Itinerary at a Glance
DAY 1: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya
With a warm Swahili welcome upon your arrival, you’ll be transferred to your boutique hotel on the outskirts of Nairobi. Spend the rest of your day as you please.
DAY 2: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
Fly to Amboseli National Par and check into your tent camp. Enjoy an afternoon game drive with a chance to see Africa’s largest elephants with the snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. (B,L,D)
DAY 3: Amboseli National Park
During today’s game drive, catch up the big cats, full after their night’s hunt. Watch for wildebeests, zebras, impalas and warthogs, and some of 300 species of birds. (B,L,D)
DAY 4: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
Fly to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Meet your ranger to explore the conservancy’s diverse ecosystems and its varied wildlife – 70 different mammals including a thriving rhino population and the endangered Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe. (B,L,D)
DAY 5: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
After a game drive, learn about the conservancy, participate in a conservancy project, or meet the tracker dogs while they train. Then gather around a cozy log fire and share your day’s adventures. (B.L.D)
DAY 6: Masai Mara
Fly to the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s premier game reserve. Your traditional safari camp is located along the Sand River, where over a million wildebeests and zebras make their migration crossing every year. Enjoy a game drive across the reserve’s grasslands. (B,L,D)
DAY 7: Masai Mara
Enjoy two game drives today. Keep a lookout for the black-maned lion, leopards and cheetahs returning from their night hunt and along the river where hippos and crocodiles hang out in their favorite feeding grounds. (B,L,D)
DAY 8: Masai Mara
Today, enjoy an optional hot air balloon ride (additional cost), or visit a traditional Maasai homestead and learn more about their cattle-based culture. (B,L,D)
DAY 9: Arusha, Tanzania
Begin with a flight to Arusha, where you’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your lodge, a peaceful retreat tucked within a coffee plantation. Enjoy the rest of the day as you please. (B,L,D)
DAY 10: Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater
Explore Lake Manyara, and its seasonal pink-hued flamingos and some 400 species of birds. Be rewarded with a sighting the park’s fabled tree-climbing Manyara lions. Continue to your lodge near the Ngorongoro Crater. (B,L,D)
DAY 11: Ngorongoro Crater
Descend some 2,000 feet to explore Ngorongoro’s sprawling crater floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to numerous herds of elephant, large prides of lions, gazelles, zebras and wildebeests. (B,L,D)
DAY 12: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
Take a short flight to Arusha and enjoy lunch before transferring to the airport for your onward flight. (L)
