We’re off to Europe to sail aboard the Celebrity Equinox! We’ll enjoy the weekend in London before continuing to Barcelona on Tuesday to board the Equinox on a 9-night Portugal, Morocco and Spain sailing. We’re staying at the Tower Hotel in London, with impressive views over Tower Bridge. The property is great, but the tourist crowds in the neighborhood are insane. However we did manage to find a nice quiet pub over on the south bank, the Kings Arms on Tooley Street.
On Saturday we’ve reserved a table for Brunch at Darwin Brasserie, located in the Sky Garden. Claiming to be the highest public garden in London, the Sky Garden is a glass dome located on the top of the 38 story 20 Fenchurch Street building, otherwise known as the Walkie-Talkie building. Brunch is very posh and the views are amazing.
After Brunch we wandered along the river to a favorite Fullers pub, the Banker. This unique pub is literally built into the support structures for the Cannon Street Railway bridge. On Saturday evening we have tickets to see MJ the Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre.
Sunday, with the weather a bit gusty and wet, we opt to spend the afternoon at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. For about $30/person, the museum is interesting, but we didn’t feel a great value. Afterwards, we enjoyed dinner at the Dickens Inn in St. Katharine Docks Marina.
Monday afternoon we met a good friend for drinks at Granary Square, a wonderful new development of bars, restaurants and shops in the Kings Cross area. That evening we attended the opening of the West End play, Barcelona. Starring Lily Collins (Emily in Paris) and Álvaro Morte (Money Heist) the play is unique, but based on reviews, it won’t be to everyone’s liking.
Another great time in London. Tomorrow we’re off to Barcelona!
