Explora I Ocean Terrace Suite
Explora Journeys, a new luxury brand from MSC, unveiled the design of its Ocean Terrace Suites for its first ship, Explora I – the first in Explora’s Homes at Sea concept.
Explora Journeys was born from a long-held vision of the founders, the Aponte Vago family, with a nautical heritage of over 300 years.
With their innate understanding of luxury, the family has curated the design of the ship’s suites, penthouses and residences to create a luxurious home at sea experience. The design reflects the brand’s philosophy of creating an Ocean State of Mind, thanks to light, color, space, privacy, and connection with the sea.
The Aponte Vago family has worked in collaboration with some of the world’s foremost super yacht, cruise and luxury hospitality designers and architects. The ship’s luxurious accommodations will blend elegant Swiss precision with modern European craftsmanship and vibrant design – and enhance the connection with the ocean.
Explora’s Homes at Sea Features
Explora I Owner’s Residence
Each of the 461 ocean-front suites, penthouses and residences comes with its own spacious private terrace and boast floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light. They feature a neutral color palette and a layout designed to indulge in the marine environment and will be furnished with some of the best of Italian and European design furniture.
The Ocean Terrace Suites are some of the largest in the industry and feature their own private terrace, complete with daybeds and an alfresco dining area. The spacious staterooms range from 377 sq ft for the Ocean Terrace Suites to 3,014 sq ft for the Owners Residence.
Explora Journeys’ is committed to sustainability with responsible sourcing of materials and eco-friendly details such as refillable bathroom amenities and no single-use plastic on board.
In keeping with the luxurious Home at Sea concept, each suite will include:
- a walk-in wardrobe with a seated vanity area
- heated floors in the bathrooms
- personal binoculars and wireless bed-side charging
- a personal mini-bar replenished according to the guests’ preferences
- an espresso machine with biodegradable pods, a kettle and teapot, and a complimentary personal refillable water bottle for each guest
- 24-hour guest services
Explora I
Explora I Open for Reservations
Reservations are open for Explora I’s Inaugural Journeys Collection, beginning in May 2023. The inaugural cruise is an 11-night Mediterranean journey from Barcelona to Athens. Sailings highlight six-night journeys as well as an epic 44-night Northern Europe Grand Journey.
In its inaugural year, the ship will visit 132 ports in 40 different countries and include two destinations – Kastellorize, Greece and Saint Pierre, Martinique – that have rarely been visited by cruise ships before.
