Celebrity Introduces New Ship Designed for the Galapagos

Celebrity Cruises has unveiled another ship in their fleet, Celebrity Flora, designed specifically for the Galapagos Islands. The ship will include a revolutionary ecological design aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, seamless sea-to-shore transportation, and anchorless technology that maintains the ship’s position while protecting the sensitive sea floor.

Celebrity Flora will have an innovative outward-facing design that gives guests 360-degree views of the Galapagos Islands, including suites featuring the new Infinite Veranda suites, which brings the entire guest suite to the waters edge with the touch of a button.

“I think this is a clear example of an intelligent investment, not only because the boat design was thought with the characteristics of the Galapagos, but because it is based on the best technology available to protect a Natural Heritage of Humanity,” said Walter Bustos, Director of Galapagos National Park.

Other design elements include:

  • An advanced propulsion system, hull configuration and specially designed diesel engines that will allow for a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and air emissions.
  • In-room water filtration systems and a system to convert seawater and air conditioning condensation into pure, fresh water.
  • An open-air stargazing platform.
