On an Amazon Rainforest river cruise, you will explore the Peruvian section of the world’s longest river, the Amazon River. The Amazon runs at least 4,000 miles, carrying with it more water than any other river in the world.
On small, yet elegant cruise ships, you will travel in luxury far into the Amazon’s rainforest in an intimate glimpse of her wildlife, ecosystems, local customs and marine and jungle landscapes. Your experienced crew and English-speaking naturalist guides will offer you uniquely “up close” journeys, surrounding you with exotic wildlife and the natural beauty of the Amazon. Naturalist guided jungle treks and excursions by tender will take you deep into the Pacaya Samiria Reserve, a protected wildlife area of five million pristine acres.
WHEN TO TRAVEL
The Amazon has two seasons: the high water season from December through May and a low water season that lasts from June until November. Cruising the Amazon in either season promises rich rewards. During the high season the rivers and streams rise about 23 feet, opening up deeper exploration along the waterways. During the low season, you’ll have greater access to jungle trails that are flooded during the high season. In either season, you will definitely see the Amazon River’s rare pink dolphins.
