Explora I
Explora I is the first ship to join the fleet of Explora Journeys, the luxury lifestyle brand of the MSC Group. The $550 million ship was delivered in late July at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
Explora I’s delivery ceremony marks a new chapter for the brand, one that offers its guests a transformative and purposeful ocean travel escape, celebrating discovery in all its forms.
Explora Journeys has also introduced unconventional arrival and departure times as well as overnight stays in ports, designed to allow guests extended time in each destination. Itineraries will also feature lesser-traveled ports.

Inaugural Season
Explora I began her inaugural season in August 2023 with a seven-night maiden voyage from Copenhagen to the Shetland Islands and Kirkwall, Orkney before arriving in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The ship will spend several weeks in Northern Europe and Greenland with a range of different itineraries. The ship will then cross the Atlantic Sea to spend the fall along the East Coast and the winter in the Caribbean, Central and South America before exploring the Pacific Coast and Hawaii in the spring.
Explora I will return to Europe in the summer 2024 for voyages in the Mediterranean Sea.

High Tech Luxury Fleet
All of the ships in Explora Journeys fleet will be equipped with the latest environmental and marine technologies, including selective catalytic reduction technology, shore power plug-in connectivity, underwater noise management systems to help protect marine life, and a comprehensive range of onboard energy efficient equipment to optimize engine use to further reduce emissions.
The line’s second ship, the Explora II, is currently under construction in Italy and will begin sailing in August 2024. Explora III will become the first of two LNG-powered vessels (liquefied natural gas) and is scheduled for delivery in 2026 followed by Explora IV in 2027.
