oceania cruisesDeparting Warnemunde at 8pm, we had a longer journey to our next port of call, Gdansk, Poland. We had a half day at sea this morning, before arriving around 2pm. Because of high winds and a driving rain, the ship made port at Gdinya instead of Gdansk.
This turned into a bit more of a challenge since instead of a 20 minute walk from the pier into Gdansk, we had about a 30 minute walk to the Gdinya train station, then a 35 minute ride into central Gdansk. However, the extended journey was more than worth it when we arrived in Gdansk and wandered upon a large street fair in the central part of the old town. This fair gave us a great opportunity to sample much of the local foods and better yet, the local beers. After spending about 5 hours wandering around among the crowds, enjoying the live music and sights we headed back toward the ship for an 11pm departure.
