While at the Virtuoso Symposium in Singapore we had met the marketing manager for the Bangkok Peninsula Hotel who invited us to come visit the hotel and have lunch today. We took a taxi to the Peninsula's boat launch on the banks of the Chao Paya River.
Situated "across the river", the Peninsula runs a private boat launch from three points along the river. From the nearest launch, it's a quick 2 minute ride across the river. We were met on the hotel's pier and escorted into the beautiful property. The building design affords all rooms (12 per floor) with great to spectacular views of the river and city.
After viewing several styles of rooms, we were treated to a traditional Chinese meal in the hotel's award winning restaurant. This property is wonderful, the river provides a bit of a "barrier" to the loud, sometimes smelly city. Taking the launch was a bit reminiscent of returning to the sanctuary of a cruise ship aboard a tender.
Returning to the Four Seasons, we opted for a bit of pool time. The pool is large and very plesant, however the neighborhood has "grown up" around the Four Seasons, leaving tall condo/apartment building towering around the pool and outdoor areas of the property.
After relaxing at the pool for a few hours, we headed to
Bed Supper Club for dinner. Part space ship, part disco, part upscale restaurant and gallery, the Bed Supper Club is one of those very touristy "must do's" in Bangkok.
