virtuoso Hotel de la Paix, Entry |
Virtuoso had chartered several flights to transport participants to Siem Reap. In addition, the group was using one commercial flight for "overflow" We lucked out and were confirmed on the commercial flight out of Singapore to Siem Reap instead of one of the charter flights. While the Charters allowed more time in Cambodia, they left at very early morning hours.
On Monday morning, after the big farewell dinner at Raffles, we worked a bit longer from the room, expecting that we wouldn't have Internet access from Siem Reap. The Virtuoso breakfast buffet was still available around 10:30, so we had a quick breakfast. After breakfast we finished packing and met up for our transfer to the airport about noon. At the airport we had a minor problem - none of the Virtuoso staff had tickets, but the airline didn't have electronic records. Eventually the "right" Virtuoso rep showed up with a stack of paper tickets for us. The flight to Siem Reap was uneventful, taking about 2 hours. Upon arrival, we were met and transferred to our hotel -
Hotel de la Paix.
We were very fortunate to get the single
Pool Suite (
virtual visit) of the hotel. Upon entering the pool suite, you were in a small entry way with a desk and luggage storage. From here you walked into a setting area with large, oversized leather chairs. To the right of this sitting area were double doors leading onto a private deck with two lounge chairs and a round table and chairs. Steps from this deck lead into the pool next to the infinity edge with water cascading over the edge. To the right of the entry and sitting area was an entertainment center complete with docked Ipod. Beyond was a king sized bed and the bath. The large stone tub was placed in the center of the bath, double sinks to one end, two huge double closets, a walk-in shower with huge rainshower head and a private toilet room.
