Itinerary at a Glance

DAY 1: Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa

After a warm welcome upon your arrival in Cape Town, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.

DAY 2: Cape Town

Day to explore at your leisure. Recommended activities include a drive along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, a ride on the Flying Dutchman funicular to the old lighthouse, and then another drive along the coast to the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. (B) 

DAY 3: Cape Town

Day to explore at your leisure. Recommended activities include exploring the nearby winelands. Learn about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. Take in the breathtaking beauty of Franschhoek, the gourmet capital of South Africa and take a stroll through charming Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture. (B)

DAY 4: Cape Town

Day to explore at your leisure. Recommended activities include private tour starting at the top of Table Mountain and then descending into the city to explore both the historical and modern sides of Cape Town. Include a ferry ride to Robben Island, a historic landmark and UNESCO site, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years. (B)

DAY 5: Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Fly to Port Elizabeth and the newly refurbished Long Lee Manor at the Shamwari Game Reserve, one of the largest private conservation initiatives in Southern Africa. In the afternoon, your first game drive. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Twice-daily game drives throughout the reserve, accompanied by expert guides, provide plenty of opportunities to witness wildlife. Your guide will share the ways that your visit helps support sustainable tourism efforts. (B, L, D)

DAY 7: Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Fill your time between game drives with visits to The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Talk with the vets, who care for young, injured and abandoned animals, which are later released back into the wild. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Shamwari Private Game Reserve – Port Elizabeth

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before continuing your transfer to Port Elizabeth for your departure flight home. (B)
