On this eight day adventure, explore Tarangire National Park filled with the famous baobab trees, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater and roam the great plains of the Serengeti in search of the migratory herds of zebra and wildebeest.

DAY 1: Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania

With a warm welcome upon your arrival, you’ll be transferred to your accommodations in Arusha, northern Tanzania’s safari capital. (D)

DAY 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Depart on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, noted for its signature baobab trees and large elephant herds. Enjoy a game drive en route to Tarangire Safari Lodge for lunch. Continue to the Tarangire Treetops. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: Tarangire National Park

Join your expert ranger for morning and afternoon game viewing activities in the Tarangire / Manyara corridor. Tarangire National Park supports a great diversity of wildlife. (B, L, D)

DAY 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Visit Lake Manyara this morning and view its seasonal flamingos that line its shore. View large herds of elephant that roam the park and the park’s fabled tree-climbing lions and countless wildlife photo opportunities. Continue on to your lodge for the next two nights, with time to explore Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (B, L, D)

DAY 5: Tanzania National Park

Descend some 2,000 feet to explore the crater floor of this extinct, collapsed volcano.  Wildlife viewing opportunities include elephants, lions, gazelle, zebra, and wildebeest, and you might spot the endangered rhino feeding by the lake. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: Serengeti National Park

Take a short flight over the great Serengeti — “endless plains” in the Maasai language and then participate in an afternoon game drive. While the exact timing is difficult to predict, here is where more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle and a quarter-million zebra gather for annual migrations, attracting large predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena. DAY 7: Serengeti National Park

During morning and afternoon game viewing activities, you are able to observe the wildlife quietly and at your leisure. Watch the many species of game grazing in close proximity to your camp as the sun sets over the savanna. (B, L, D)

DAY 8: Serengeti – Arusha

Your Tanzania safari ends with a short flight to Arusha where you’ll enjoy lunch and a place to relax at a day room reserved for your use at the Arusha Coffee Lodge. Later tonight, you are transferred to the airport for your onward arrangements. (B, L)

Hidden among one of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantations, the beautifully positioned lodge sits below the rugged peak of Mount Meru, with beautifully designed suites and rooms. Private game reserve bordering Tarangire National Park with luxury suites that are perched on platforms in the branches of Baobab and Marula trees with views across the Tarangire plains from a private balcony. The main lodge is centered around a thousand year Baobab tree overlooking a waterhole that sees a constant flow of wild animal visitors.

Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro | Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Located within a 1500-acre coffee estate, The Manor is surrounded by flowering gardens and age-old trees. Each cottage has its own private entrance and adjoining sun terrace with double open-fronted log-burning fireplace that divides the room’s interior.

Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp | Serengeti National Park
Located in the Northern Corridor of the park on the main wildebeest migration route between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. The camp has become synonymous with low-impact, high-action game viewing. Spacious elevated tents blend seamlessly into the environment. The main tent has viewing platforms that offer views across the river and the rugged landscape beyond.

Rwanda in the Mist
