We're watching the news about sub-zero temperatures in the northern states and even snow in Georgia, we feel very lucky to have experienced high 70's yesterday in Cabo San Lucas. But, today is a completely different story. Having left the relative "safety" of the temperate Baja of California the forecast is now only into the mid to upper 50's. And, with a headwind of 15mph combined with our forward speed of about the same, the 30 mile per hour wind across the deck puts a real bite in the air.

As has become the routine, we order coffee to the room and work for a few hours on this day at sea. We're enroute to San Diego, where we'll arrive about noon tomorrow. US customs is the first order of duty - everyone must complete customs inspection before the ship can be cleared into the US and allow passengers to disembark. But, with only about 600 guests and 450 crew onboard, the process should be relatively fast and painless.

The crew has put together another Pool Grill special lunch, the "Officers International Luncheon" But, with water splashing out of the pool, and some futile attempts to keep their grills going in the wind, we opt for a quiet lunch in the warmer main dining room. After lunch the galley staff present an ice carving demonstration on deck. Burr - standing outside in 55+ degrees with a 30 mile per hour wind AND ice carving equipment.

The afternoon is very quiet onboard, followed by the Captain's Farewell and Crew Show at 6pm. This is the most well attended show we've seen, with nearly a packed house. The captain makes a few remarks, followed by a show presented by the crew (mostly the galley and housekeeping staff), followed by executive staff introductions and a small group of staff from each of the departments, housekeeping, bar services, galley services, engineering, etc.

It's optional formal night onboard, so we opt to return to our room, start a movie from the huge on-demand library and order room service beer and pizza. We gain another hour of sleep tonight as we move into the west coast time zone. More tomorrow after our day in San Diego.
