MACHU PICCHU TO LAKE TITICACA ITINERARY

Day 1: ARRIVE IN LIMA

Arrive in Lima, the capital of Peru, where you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: CUSCO/SACRED VALLEY/ Andean Weaving

Fly to Cusco and enjoy lunch before driving to Urubamba. En route, visit a camelid breeding center, learn about the ancient weaving techniques still used here and meet locals wearing their colorful traditional dress.

Day 3: URUBAMBA / The Terraces of Ollantaytambo

Visit a local home to see how chicha, a traditional Andean drink, is made. Continue to Ollantaytambo, site of the Incas’ greatest victory over the Spanish. Later, tour an intricately adorned church built over Incan ruins in Chincheros.

Day 4: MACHU PICCHU / The Lost City of the Incas

Step aboard a Vistadome train for a scenic ascent to Machu Picchu. Walk the ruins of this breathtaking Incan citadel with your expert guide.

Day 5: MACHU PICCHU / Sunrise Over the Ruins

Stroll through Machu Picchu at sunrise. If you prefer, choose from two hikes with your guide: to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) or to Huayna Picchu. After lunch, return to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 6: CUSCO / A Massive Stone Marvel

Tour Cusco, visiting the Cathedral on the Plaza de Armas and the Santo Domingo Temple. Stroll the market of San Pedro, and then journey to nearby Sacsayhuaman, a massive stone ruin.

Day 7: PUNO / Sacred Sites and Soaring Elevations

Travel to Puno, stopping along the way to visit the Iglesia San Pedro Apóstol in Andahuaylillas, sometimes called the Sistine Chapel of Peru. Visit ruins of an Incan shrine in Raqchi,

Days 8-9: SUASI ISLAND / Life on Lake Titicaca

Journey to Lake Titicaca and embark by boat to the man-made Floating Island of the Uros. Continue to the island of Taquile, famed for its fine, hand-woven textiles. Then it’s on to the beautiful, privately owned Suasi Island.

Day 10: JULIACA /LIMA / An Artistic Visit

En route to Juliaca, visit a church renowned for its paintings and sculptures. When you arrive in Juliaca, you then fly to Lima.

Day 11: LIMA / Larco Herrera Museum

Tour Lima, including the Plaza Mayor and the Cathedral. Walk past the Presidential Palace, and then visit the Church of San Francisco. Tour the fascinating Larco Herrera Museum, with its private collection of pre-Inca ceramics.

Day 12: DEPART LIMA

This morning, transfer to the airport and depart.
