Celebrity Cruises Offers Conservation Program on Galapagos Expedition

Celebrity established the Galapagos Fund, an onboard conservation program, to give guests an opportunity to participate in the ongoing conservation of the islands.

Guests sailing to the Galapagos on Celebrity Xpedition have the opportunity to participate in Celebrity’s Scalesia Reforestation Project. The project invites guests to join the efforts of Celebrity Cruises and the Galapagos National Park to achieve their goal of planting 5,000 Scalesia trees, an endemic tree that has lost much of its habitat in the Galapagos.

The project is among several immersive experiences available to guests aboard the Celebrity Xpedition.

Visitors can visit a family farm on the island of Santa Cruz and dine on local fare as a part of Celebrity’s immersive cultural experience that directly connects vacationers with residents of the local community.

It is a part of Celebrity’s efforts to preserve the natural conditions and support local growers and farmers in the Galapagos region. From Ecuadorian ceviche to roasted fish, soups and even desserts such as tres leches – a variety of the locally caught, sustainable fish and seafood, vegetables and fruits served onboard are fresh, organic and sourced from Galapagos fishermen and farmers.

The Galapagos excursions are aimed at giving passengers unique cultural and conservation experiences during the ship’s seven- to 15-night cruises through the Galapagos archipelago.
